Traveling

Lille itself is easy to reach

- by direct, fast trains from Paris (Gare du Nord, 60 minutes),  Charles de Gaulle airport (55 minutes),London (1hr 20 minutes) and Brussel (30 minutes). There are two train stations in Lille: Lille Flandre with all local trains, and some fast trains from Paris and Lille Europe, the new train station with all trains from London, Brussel and most trains from the airport or Paris. Both train stations are located within 5 minutes of walking of each other.

- by plane: the easiest is to fly into Paris Charles de Gaulle and take a direct train from the airport (55 minutes). You might want to check on the Air France website to buy a ticket including the train ticket (look for destination Lille Europe). You can also fly into Brussels, but you will need to take the metro to the train station Brussel midi, and then a train to Lille. Other airports (Charleroi, Beauvais) with low cost airlines are possible (few shuttles to Lille), but are not very convenient.

We have received discout rates at Air France, so you might want to check this option:

- For those who continue to the International Symposium on Combustion in Dublin, you can try to buy on Air France a round trip from Lille to Dublin, including the train from Lille Europe to CdG, plane from CdG to Dublin and vice versa. Of course you don't need to use the train from CdG to Lille on the way back. Round trips are currently (June 2018) around 200 €. This is the same price as a ruondtrip Paris - Dublin, but (i) includes the train from Lille to CdG ( around 50€) and (ii) removes the risk from missing your flight due to f.e. a strike of the french railway system.....
